Prelude

This blog is a depiction of my life's past, present and possibly, future- when I decide to invent a time machine.

Greetings to anyone who made the effort to visit(And of course, to those who stumbled into this page totally by chance). So for those who are here reading this, please turn a blind eye to the occasional over-cheesy post and the inevitable typo errors.

Have a nice day!

INTI-an night

Last night, INTI's mph was the venue for our own Intian night, which was supposed to be the "biggest event of the year" but in my opinion, just fell short of the target.
Everyone knows that the best restaurant in town relies 100% on its customers whereas the most prestigious award ceremony would seem like a failure without some big names. Nights like the one yesterday require one thing in common besides a long list of first string performances- an audience.
Don't get me wrong, I know lots of people turned up for the event. There was an audience (DUH), just not one with enough magnitude and exuberance to put the night on top of the long list of 'nights' they have here in college.

After weeks of practice, the troupe I was in meekly saw our performance through and it really got to me as I felt that we had let our seniors down. Dwelling on the mistakes that some of us made didn't make it feel any better either.
Yet, there was something that proved to be a crucial tonic for us. A simple word of encouragement from each other, a small gesture of "you did OK" with a pat on the back, and at the center of it all, the spirit shown by everyone last night was good. And this, is what I joined clubs like these for- the sense of camaraderie we share during and/or after such experiences, which ultimately, are nothing less than priceless.

Like our performance, the night can be considered as one that didn't pull as many people as the O-night, and a total failure if you are a sourpuss who can't see the half-full cup.
But as I've always said, you gotta look at the wider picture. In other words, accept the little things that have not lived up to standards; at the same time, take into account all the so easily overlooked details that was successfully pulled off by our student council. The overall organization, for one, was of the best quality. The seats arranged for the performers were good too.. Hehheh.. reminds me of form 2's "phantom of the opera" and its opera house. The seats we had were like the best boxes in the house XP.
Ooh, and those people who turned out, though not as strong in numbers, enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Anyhow, who am I to pass judgments. We enjoyed ourselves, and that is the whole point!
We even had our own photography session (more like a photograph-snapping frenzy) in our ..erm.. dressing room? :P lol.. It was just a room not too far from the stage.
Photos should be in my possession by next monday. Photos in the next post lar~ :D

DAMNIT! It is no secret that I have a penchant for being sick(particularly because of the flu virus) a couple of weeks before the finals. I'm down with the flu again!
As the consistency of this happening gets more and more evident with each passing semester, I come to realize that it is more of a curse than a string of coincidences. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I am doomed to be a martyr to the common cold! (I can't find the post from my ex-blog... It should be somewhere in there. Somewhere.. grrr. can't find it)
Nothing can start to shape the hatred I feel towards the flu virus. Oooooooh ><, how I despise it.

I slept at 3am last night and woke up today with the sun blazing through my window. Sensing something amiss, I reached over to my brother's alarm clock and as I was trying to shake the sleep out of my head and make out the time (You know how your brain, when it comes to clocks - analogs- tend to take up a few seconds to register the time).
"SHOOT! fuckfuckfuckfuck.. It's 12.15!" And my music lesson starts at noon. Getting dressed and getting there would take another 20 minutes. Ohhh MAN >.<

That's how my day started- A little sour, a little bitter plus a pinch guilt.

Anyhow, as I try to kickstart my day with soup and placing a pizza order (lunch), I realize that I should start getting some shuteye earlier rather than later. Sleeping at 2am, as is my wont nowadays; Being kicked out of dreamland by the my handphone's alarm, something I look forward to least everyday; "fishing" in class. All of em should STOP. And I know that I am the only one who holds the handbreaks to my own actions.
Time to pull it.

Thinking isn't always good cus you come up with long titled blog posts like this that doesn't pertain at all to the post's body

Just a random thought:
I was just reading a debate in one of my college's online forum that was sparked by a complain about something. At the end of the debate(or row, as some parts of it may seem like one.. what with all the sniping *BANG BANG) the college authorities settled it by giving some explanation to us information-starved people. From this, we can see that the most powerful tool for a human isn't brute strength but information. I know this sounds a little familiar for some of you and it shouldn't surprise you that I got the whole idea from Harry Potter (particularly those lengthy conversations between the kick-ass boy wizard and the old headmaster. This is the part where you gotta go "oooh, so that's why I go to school." :P It's just sometimes, we tend to forget the mainstays, all the while fretting over inconsequential details. And a little reminder can do us a world of good, if heeded:D.

I don't know what happened, but it could be the 3 hour nap I took that made me stop and look at my life as a big picture... Just the important stuff.

Then again, It could also be that simple yet torturing thing...
You know, there are "those people"(or "that person" to be more specific) that can light up the rest of your day with a simple "Hi". No kidding. Treading into this territory, I have very stupidly made myself vulnerable because of the greenhorn I am when it comes to this. Unlike experienced players of the game, I haven't an inkling of what to do in which situation, which makes things a little uncertain and dodgy(one lousy euphemism for being desperate).
Ahh, but when she gives you that smile, or when you catch that beautiful twinkle in her eye, the world starts to blend into one big ball of absolute simplicity. Everything becomes so simple because every single cell in your body has itself fixated on one thing.
The spotlight shines, and she is the one and only thing in the world that matters.
Then you put on the emergency breaks because you nearly smashed your head into a lamppost (or any similar situation that brings you back to EARTH). The moment has passed. Telling yourself,"Helloo? It was just a meaningless 'hi' you daft idiot!", and everything goes back behind that line that defines normality.

HAaaiih. Self-pity shouldn't be promoted here though. If you want something, you work your ass off to get it, even if it means some sacrifices are to be made.
It is times like this that a little wisdom of hindsight wouldn't hurt. Look back in history, and behold, the ones who defied doubters, the ones who fought their battles with all the odds stacked against them. Reminds me of the Battle of Britain(arguably the turning point of the second world war) which in turn brings out that golden moment when Churchill said, quote, "Never in the field of combat have so many owed so much to so few..." unquote.

I gotta have a little faith larh..

As a friend of mine once said: You're halfway there when you believe. (or at least, that's how I remember it)

Last-minute-ness

The CNY atmosphere or "mood" has long been gone and what's left is yet another month of pulling myself through the endless barrage of assignments and tests, partly due to my 'last-minute' attitude.
One good example: "Haiyo, this assignment still got one week til its due date, can wait lah. Let's go play 1st."
Laziness leads to procrastination; Procrastination leads to Last-minute-ness(there might be a proper word for it, but it's beyond my ken); Last minute-ness leads to trouble.

The common misconception about last-minute-ness is that it's 100% your fault for being sloppy and lazy. Know what? YOU'RE BLOODY WRONG! It's 90% your fault and 10% others'. When I say oth
ers, I mean that you lazy buggers out there can blame OTHERS (yes, others!) as a reason for your last-minute-ness.

XP. FINE... you can't blame others for your own fallibilities.
What you can do is to try to rid yourself of this bad habit.

I have been trying new stuff lately, and as always, find myself in the throes of a hectic week/month. Lagging behind in class, extracurricular activities filling up my timetable faster than fatfat's drinking speed*(which, in case you don't know, can be freakishly quick!), and also those little loose screws that require tightening here and there...Especially that one involving Cupid's arrow. (sigh..)

[*Once, at the canteen, we saw him holding a cup of iced-lemon tea, filled to the brim mind you, so we rushed over to take a sip out of it. But when we got there, an empty cup and a loud burp greeted us instead -.-']

Solution? Pulling 'self-pity' and 'surrender' out of the equation, here's what I think is both humanly possible and effective.
Take it one problem at a time. Avoid getting hooked on anything that's time consuming, e.g. dotA, Fifa, Friendster surfing and so on, so forth. Most importantly, always keep the MAIN goals within sight.
Have a merry March 07! Ciao.
