I woke up barely 5 minutes into my nascent slumber to a loud *PIANG!* Something hit one of the fan vanes above my head... something that made irate movements accompanied with the wild beating of wings... something that landed on my bed... right BESIDE me. Practically falling off the bed, I stumbled to the light switch to turn the power on. Sitting there on the bed was a cockroach. WTF!!
**after a heated heart-pulsing battle**
The wretched beast is defeated. I'm embarrassed to admit that I do have some reservations when dealing with icky ugly roaches.... but what got me thinking was that I wasn't alone in this. So far, only 2 of my lifetime of male friends have ever told me straightforwardly that they detest the very presence of the dinosaurs of disgust within a 10 meter radius. More so if they are found to be one of those which are wing-happy... don't you just hate it when the element of surprise is thrown in during a fight when your opponent unveils its BIG secret weapon. In this case, the evil monster unveiled a second of erratic flutter. It took flight. Or rather, it rocketed towards me, leaving me rattling about the room with my broomstick AWAY from the battle.
I have no idea why I'd even bother blogging about this... tho if I don't, I doubt that any of my friends would fancy beginning their morning with a Q1 vs the roach story.
Anyways, the roach died a painful death, squished beyond recognition (even its mama wouldn't know that it's him/her) and flung into the abyss of the Block Heisenberg Halls of Residence air well. A triumphant roar ensued (Though it was more of a roar of relief). It didn't help that my neighbour was charitable enough to share another roach-related story in which a boy met his match when the cockroach escaped his radar and managed to bestow upon him the kiss of death, whereupon he spent the subsequent 45mins in the washroom quote"washing his mouth with mouthwash, colgate..." and I presume, everything you're allowed to put into your mouth. It's bloody 4.40 now.
I'm soooo screwed. Test in less than 6 hours.
So concludes the mini saga involving the heroics of myself against the threatener of peace in room HX-XX
Room number to remain undisclosed in order to protect the anonymity of neighbour and, more importantly, to avoid cockroach brothers to avenge the death and mutilation of their fellow kind.
I'm inclined to do this to educate our younger readers who have little or no experience in hostel lifestyle>>
The moral of the story is: Draw the curtains before you sleep.(and make sure there's not a chance for big fat flying insects to enter)

This blog is a depiction of my life's past, present and possibly, future- when I decide to invent a time machine.
Greetings to anyone who made the effort to visit(And of course, to those who stumbled into this page totally by chance). So for those who are here reading this, please turn a blind eye to the occasional over-cheesy post and the inevitable typo errors.
Have a nice day!

Food and PRU(Pilihanraya Umum)
I'm a little pissed because I'm waiting for a couple of friends for dinner.
People tend to get upset and cranky when they're hungry.
This isn't a "urh.. maybe" or "could be".. It's human nature acting up. Maybe that's why people like to invite their future investors/partners in business across the discussion table for a talk over dinner.
I'm kind of stuck in this rut now... I'm still struggling to come to grips with the fact that I lack the regular spell of attention spans.
RAANDOM!!
bah...
on a different cloud,
The elections came and left most of us agape, staring wide eyed at the results of the recent Pilihanraya Umum. I've never felt so politicalized before :P. As we Malaysians know, the mainstream media has been (since forever) under the tight grip of our beloved BN government (who incidently, suffered the biggest loss in Malaysian history)
Hmmm, I WONDER WHY.
The papers (with the exception of Chinese and Tamil dailies) gave a ridiculously watered-down coverage on the Opposition rallies and ceramahs.
I know that I said I'm going to keep my opinions close to my chest.
I take that back.
In fact I want to retract what I said about Malaysians falling short of one of that vision pertaining to democratic maturity.
I was ecstatic when the person on TV said "Penang has fallen!".
Even more so when on AEC(Astro) the person on the line (who was in a polls center, observing the counting of votes) exclaimed in a hushed tone, obviously alarmed that it looks bad for the BN in Selangor. Right after RTM and TV3 confirmed that Penang has fallen to the opposition, news on the rest of the states that eventually fell into the hands of the PKR-DAP-PAS coalition came at a frustrating trickling pace. We waited up til 4am with only 5 state assembly seats from Selangor announced on national TV when all of a sudden, sis hollered from the study. The friggin results were out online!
5 States have been wrested from BN's clutches.
Gentleman of the day: Dr. Koh Tsu K of Gerakan. Remaining composed and keeping his emotions in check, he gave a short press release saying that he has conceded defeat and that he accepts the Rakyat's decision. He even called up the Opposition leader, ensuring that there'll be a smooth transition of power.
Mr Immature of the day: our beloved SAMMY. lol..
Confusing statement: On what he thinks of the coalition's loss of 4 more states. "Kalah kalahlah" by Pak Lah.
_______________________________________________________-
Aftermath.
State governments are being formed. Mentri Besars are being sworn in. Signs of squabbles are beginning to surface. The media is still biased.
Paper shredding in the Selangor state administration building :P.
One of the controversial ex Selangor politician died of a heart attack.
Reminds me of the scene in Fun with Dick and Jane.

Read up articles and columns in malaysia today to arm yourself with knowledge. The ones that impressed me most were "troubling times", "Managing the burden of victory" and Raja Petra Kamarudin posts.
I feel so sleepy after dinner.
Well, at least I'm not cranky anymore.

I decide
The election campaign hit its peak yesterday.. while far away from the hubbub of the barnstorming opposition ceramahs, I was in the sanguine of our administrative capital.
The grass is moist.
A soothing breeze glazes across the water surface. In front of me, the large body of water ripples gently, splashing onto the rocky banks an inch or two from my feet. With my bag as a makeshift headrest, I lay there reminiscing as it's one thing I can openly admit to be considerably good at these days. Out of the corner of my eye, I catch a glimpse of someone at the bank some distance to my left.... one of the SLR carriers. It's like being in a dream. A dream that came to life once upon a time.
A pathway, the same one trodden on by these two feet together with you by my side.
As I sit here, allowing my emotions to slow dance along with the chirping of birds, I feel the water's calm.
One of the tour boats passed.
I stood. Relinquishing the prospect of ever reliving the dream.
Just then, the violent ripples caused by the boat lapped onto the bank... sending splashes on the ground I lay on just a few seconds ago.
I don't know why I get so emotional...
I don't want to be a helpless romantic.
Nothing makes sense when you're in the shoes of one.
No conditions are required.
It's just complete absorption of the mind on the single thing that makes it worthwhile(for being a HR)
Walk away, Quiwan... See the light that has been shining on you all the while.
Don't dwell.

End
It poured some today
Why are gloated over-glorified victories and conquests etched into history books while those of silent passions and sacrifices deserve little mention? The former may be well known, but they gradually lose their glamour, blending into the walls of normalcy.
It's the confidentiality of the little sacrifices done in the quiet of darkness that puts it above all accomplishments in the heart of the informed.
Dark and gloomy weather outside.
The little dots of gain, betrayal, love, anger, happiness, industriousness, innovation, loss, bravery and depression strewn across the board that's our life. What do they account for, when the people moving them cease to exist.
There's always been a belief that change will alter the course of this current enough to flow in our favour. Wake up.
It's all in the head.
Change is nothing.
Times of darkness engulfs and wind blows the happiness away. There's unrest within the heart. "Where's the fairness in that?"
"Hunt its head and stick it onto a pole!", it says.
I don't think fretting over things that are determined by the wind would help. It kills us to drive for revenge; pains us to think of the calls that received nothing in reply.
Impending doom never seemed more subtle than this.
Hammer falls. The lightning strikes.
All is but a wasted mush of a fool's wishful thinking.
Still pouring.
The world and its machinery remains a puzzle to me.

Information
My attempts to turn every rock over looking for the missing cert were to no avail.
*sigh*
Absent-mindedness remains the 2nd greatest mash of crap restraining this train from advancing.

As the election date draws nearer, I can't help but be sucked, together with the crowd, into that political warp hole. Yesyes, despite the election fever and BN-Opposotion(Barisan Rakyat, that's what they're calling themselves now) jargon pasted all over the papers (government controlled ones or not), I still can't vote... Kinda pointless if I get myself too involved.
Some info about my hometown's state seat- Subang Jaya:
Running for the state seat are Ong Chong Swen (MCA) and *drumroll*
our very own SU alumna- Hannah Yeoh (DAP)!
I know, I never really had that political awareness unless of course, if you count hearing parents and relatives discuss it over food.
Only recently have I taken a keener interest in the way our country has been governed all these years. With all the talk by the ruling coalition about promoting multiculturalism and placing the magnifying glass over the collapse of all boundaries to usher in the Bangsa Malaysia concept, change in the big picture remains elusive to these 4 eyes of mine. I can't help but wonder...
Is THIS continuity the best step towards reaching that 3rd target in our Wawasan 2020?
Challenge 3: "To develop a mature democratic community."
The key word.
Don't get me started on the other targets...
It's arguable that there's still time for improvement, for the last dash towards unbiased governance at every level. I'm still very much on the fence if you ask me that general question. Even if I've decided, I would rather hold it close to my chest. The parties have 4 more years to woo votes from our generation (1988 peeps rule!) :P.
For those who are eligible,
come on lah,
practice you right as a citizen.
Go out, VOTE!

This may be outdated but I'm sure some are still ill-informed about this matter..
Remember that email circulating about last year about pizza hut and its race discrimination?
Just some lightening-up for you guys.
It was a hoax. A hate mail.
I came across this comment post by Lawrence Ding in an opposition website. I buy his explanation, though it would be wise for companies to consider the option of informing their customers about these kind of things in the future. We have the right to know, you know.

Dear all my friends whom I have not met,
but came across through the circulation of this malicious mail alleging that Pizza Hut Malaysia practises racism, charging sales and service taxes only to certain races and discriminating against others.
Just want to assure you and all your friends that this is a hoax and hate mail that has been going round since mid 2006.
In Malaysia we do not need anymore of such nonsensical and irresponsible lies through the email.
Thus, if you could please re-circulate back to those who has been propagating the hoax and hate mail, we are doing ourselves a favour by telling the truth.
Pizza Hut Malaysia is a Public Listed company and we are bound by law to collect the 5% sales taxes and we also have a 10% service charge on table service as all dining restaurants do.
There is NO service charge if you do a take-out/ takeaway order.
We will never ever deviate from the law of our land. Should we do anything as accused in the hoax and hate mail, we will be asking for big trouble.
At one time, we were collecting some info about our customers to see what is our customer profile so as to help us serve them better.
However, some malicious people have turned it into a hate mail. So it is a lie and please do not believe in the hoax and hate mail.
I am the Senior General Manager of Pizza Hut Malaysia and I am assuring you and your friends that we are also a franchised company from Yum! Restaurants International, another Public Listed company in the US. We are law abiding and honest company.
Final note, I think it is really grossly unfair and unwise for Haris Ibrahim to post a hoax mail (complete with pix to make it look real) on your website without checking its authenticity.
Someone once said that if we kick-around a lie around long enough, people will believe it as a truth.
Haris Ibrahim, efforts like this will undermind your very credibility that you are championing!
Your help to just circulate this to your friends will be greatly appreciated.
In addition, I have also attached our official statement for your attention.
Thanks for your help
