Last night, I was minding my own business in the living room, day-dreaming overtime, when dad called home. After a short exchange, mum simply said "Quiwan, are you free this break?". Before I could answer, she said "Yes" to the receiver. Frankly, I knew what was coming during that nanosecond right between her question and the it being processed in my brain. I knew it, which was why I struggled to give her an answer as I couldn't lie and say "I'm NOT FREE this holidays! Don't let me work!!". Before I could think of a white lie, before any action could be taken at all to obviate myself from doom, the damage was done. Right there and then:
"Quiwan, go to work in papa's office tmr."
NOOooOoOoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo~
(think Luke and Vader)
I had a short, violent fit on the spot. loL. right.
I was devastated. My holiday plans, which involved a series of planned reads, tv shows, computer eye-glueing (gluing my eyes to the screen, that is), sleeping, day-dreaming, all ruined,
*poof* *Kabootssh* *crumble crumble* *whhhssshh*
right out the window. See! I'm so emotionally destroyed that I am not only unable to put together words to express the way I feel, but also reduced to using poofs and kabootsshs.
Reasons why I couldn't just say NO? Actually, I just need ONE. Simply put, I really don't have other better plans for my break ><. I then made a short list in my head regarding the few important items that would be essential in fighting against boredom today. But, being me, I forgot half of the things on the list when I woke up this morning. And among the weapons to combat dullness that I brought, i.e. One mp3 player and one book, I forgot the batteries for my music player, which leaves me with the book. In retrospect, all I can say is: Thank god for dilbert. Not that I didn't learn anything engineering-wise today. It's just that, in long stretches of time I had to wait for my dad to return to the office to explain what and how I'm supposed to do something. And you don't count it by the minutes, you use hours. >< style="font-style: italic;">friend The book's like kiam chai already... Don't kill me when I return it cus it was already like that when you lent it to me.) Spent the next hour+ reading, skipping chapters here and there, when I found a particularly witty comment about the relationship between a cow and a
coworker. I think I laughed out loud when I read that and someone outside heard me. He/she probably thought I'd lost it.
Rest of the day passed without any major incidents.
Not til I got home and (excuse the corniness) begun to really appreciate the homey warmth that nowhere else on earth can better, especially the comforts offered by the cozy TVcouch.
I have to tell myself though, that my break will only last a fortnight.
Don't get too cosy now.
