Prelude

This blog is a depiction of my life's past, present and possibly, future- when I decide to invent a time machine.

Greetings to anyone who made the effort to visit(And of course, to those who stumbled into this page totally by chance). So for those who are here reading this, please turn a blind eye to the occasional over-cheesy post and the inevitable typo errors.

Have a nice day!
(Note: Refer to bottom of page for the "Korean Culture Shock-Heads up!" section where I jot down little oddities or just interesting facts about Korea, Seoul and its denizens)

It's been alright

The login page to blogspot on my computer has been switching between Chinese and Korean for reasons beyond curiosity's reach; hence my being content with blogspot-related ignorance. I'm the least bit bothered to get it to be consistent and in English.

So, past couple of weeks have been alright.
Been over-stressing the word "Alright" since coming to Korea.
Simply because it REALLY is just alright. Not all dandy and high; not all groans and lows. Sometimes, the heart beats along with the pulse of the fast-paced metropolis that is Seoul. Times when the sun is shining, and "Sweet child of mine" plays on my random list of songs (sadly, played on my pitiful Blackberry Curve which has been down-graded all the way from glorious smartphone, high up on its throne, to mp3 player and morning alarm clock).
Or..
..when I'm on the 7.15 train, on the crossing of 한강Hangang (river), and the sun magnificently peeks over the mountains from the vague boundaries of the city, shedding this soft orange hue across the rooftops and river veneer. A declaration of "Good Morning!" in the most pre-Caffeine-friendly way.
Note: Being on the 7.15am train means 2 things. As idiotically trivial as it sounds, it is actually extremely important to be on that train or any of the ones before.

1) It means yours truly will definitely not be late for work.

2) It means that I will be able to afford a 5-10 minutes wait for a Foccacia @ Joe's Sandwich. The most amazingly simple yet Delicious piece of bread, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and meat. Ever. Highlight, of course, lies in the drizzle of balsamic vinegar, blending itself so perfectly between all the other stuff.

That, I would say, just summed up what I call a "good start to a work day".

On the other hand, 'downs' are NOT few and far between since getting my ass flown here from KL 3 months ago. Nary a week passes without the surfacing of some form of doubt over a decision I made in that cosy Samara Plaza room, Leeds almost one year ago. What the heck does the future hold?
Who? What? Where? When?
Admitting that there is a trace of *the D word* doesn't make the problem go away though. Learning something new at the office every now and then does help to justify my odd selection of an internship program.

Then again, there's facebook,
there's skype,
there's msn,
not to forget good ol' snail mail.

Then there's travelling and exploring with new friends...
Standard Charted building in the Namdaemun area.

Walked about this part of Seoul in search for Malaysian cuisine.

Pasar Malam AHEAD!

Really reminded me of the night market in M'sia. If it wasn't for the weather and shouts in Korean... :P

Found this "Mi Goreng" which resembled more like a Char Kuey Teow (Basah type). Tasted quite... aweful.

Was amazed to find Bee Cheng Hiang here selling their "Rou Gan". (Malaysian beef/pork jerky?)

막걸리 Makkeoli. Tasted good with Saida (koreanized word for Soda) And yes, I'm a wuss.

Thai girls Ms. Air and her friend May

I think this is HaemulPajeon. Seafood Pajeon.

The busan gang! In Seoul! Frederico is the guy on the right, who's still the same since I met him in Busan.

Juuso and Young Lee

Free food! (Koreans call it "Service")

Funny advert we found at the subway station. Believe it or not, it's a plastic surgery ad. You go on to put the pieces together. ;)

Yogurt Ice-cream. MMmm..

My 1st attempt at frying Pajeon. Nothing close to the real thing, but *pat myself  on the back* "Good effort".

Sampling dakgalbi. Chicken. Spicy stuff. YUM.

2 Thursdays ago, I got off a little early from work. Thursday is called "Family day" by our company. And it is on this day out of the entire week, we get to go home ON TIME at 5pm. Usually, work ends at 6 or 7.

Sound exhibition at Dongdaemun Design Plaza. The place is amazing. Probably because it incorporates so many things we did- theoretically- back in 4th year's IDP (Integrated design project). More of this in my next post.

Time to go GREEN! Plastic bottles make up this haechi.(korean mythical creature)

It's not all that bad I guess.
Everything's been quite...
alright.
